Fire fork lamp large

Many people are looking for suitable lighting for old homes. Since electricity is a young phenomenon and candles and kerosene are not a practical alternative in everyday life, we at Gysinge have manufactured a “lamp for building conservation” that meets all our requirements for historical anchoring, style, design and electrical safety. The fire fork lamp has borrowed its shape from an 18th century fire fork. The linseed oil-fired forging and the hand-turned brass details are the same as on a well-made 18th century fire fork. What has been added is of course the foot itself and the lighting. We have also chosen a building care detail from our range for the screen; the folded cardboard is made of classic chipboard, which with its white side inwards gives an enhanced light glow and its brown outwards creates a certain transparency and above all a very warm and cozy glow. Chipboard is a long-lasting material that can withstand heat in a completely different way to modern plastic shades. The fire fork lamp is a window and table light and is available in two different heights. The low one fits into any environment, the high, slim one gives a different, slightly more modern impression and fits just as well in a new environment.

Lamp base of linseed oil burned iron with turned transitions in polished brass. Screen stand made of lacquered iron wire with a bracket that prevents the screen from wobbling.

Linseed oil fired forging. Brass details. Height incl. shade 52 cm. Shade width 22 cm. Cord length 210 cm.

Max 40 W.

Floor plinth late 1800s per meter

Floor plinth, planed joinery late 19th century.

Our program of planed joinery from the second half of the 19th century is of a machine-planed variety that was common throughout the country.

This model is known as ‘French carpentry’ and was in production until well into the 20th century. There were normally two variants, one more lavish for finer rooms, such as the hall, atrium and salon.

These rooms included, for example, three-part cornices and three-part high plinths.

For simpler rooms, such as kitchens, bedrooms and chambers, carpentry was used with smaller dimensions and less complicated profiles.

However, some of the moldings, such as linings and breast moldings, tend to be the same, regardless of whether they are in fancier or simpler rooms.

The price is per meter.

Floor wax 1 l

Liquid, unscented wax solution. Intended for the cleaning and protection of hard floors, such as painted wooden floors, stone floors, tiled floors, cork and linoleum carpets and oiled brick floors.

Excellent for mopping floors. Perfect for those who have a linseed oil painted floor and want to keep the freshness of the color while giving the floors a more easily cleaned and dirt-repellent surface. An advantage is that floor wax can be used on all floors in all rooms, regardless of material, in normal cleaning.

Floor wax only works in diluted form to treat or maintain linseed oil painted floors according to the dosage description below.

For the treatment of dry linoleum floors, undiluted floor wax can be applied until the surface is saturated and then polished with a polishing sponge or cloth.

Flower pot red

Hand-turned flower pot with barrel of traditional variety. Red flower pot that was developed as a special product for Christmas a few years ago but is now part of the regular range.

Flowerpot production became an industry and mass production in Sweden around the turn of the century 1900. Before then, all pots were made by hand, as were the saucers. The profession was called pottery.

Typical of handmade pots is that you can see the potter’s hands in the ware. The imprints from the hand-turning process create low ridges on the surface and show through on the outside. A hand-turned pot is therefore not as smooth as a machine pot, it is more personal and has more life and variety.

A detail that also reveals the real craftsmanship is the soft, rounded rim at the top. It can certainly be made by machine, but it will never be as soft and individual as on a hand-turned pot.

Folding gate fittings 1900s type

An interior window fitting of the trapdoor type, made of hand-polished brass. A common design throughout the first half of the 20th century. Very high quality. Also called window latch.

The fitting is polished, not lacquered, which means that the brass surface darkens naturally if it is not polished.

Untreated brass. Length 52mm, height 38mm. Suitable screw no 7. (Screw not included.)

EUR15.45

Folding gate fittings 19th century type

Interior window fittings of the trapdoor type in hand-polished brass. The model, also known as window latch, is common from the mid-19th century to a few decades into the 20th century.

The unusual feature of our fitting is a completely smooth back, which means that installing the fitting does not require drilling and making holes in the sash. Therefore, the fitting is very easy to install. At the same time, the sash is horizontal in the closed position. On many of the old models, the boom is usually only almost horizontal.

Note also that the edges are beveled, as on the original fittings (there are other simpler “copies” on the market). The fitting is polished, but not lacquered, which means that the brass surface darkens naturally if you do not polish it.

Polished brass. Height 37 mm, length assembled 60 mm.

Suitable screw no. 6. (Not included)

Folding stool

The folding stool is a common type of extra chair. We picked up our stool from a load of building materials on the way to the dump. The shape is 17th-17th century, but this particular example was probably made as late as the early 20th century. Our original pallet was painted white (about 2% green umber), but the original fabric was replaced. It is likely that the stool was originally covered with a single-colored marquis fabric, or with an unbleached linen fabric, as in the picture.

Hand-turned birch, iron rivets. Supplied unpainted, with fabric. Height unfolded 45 cm. Width 36 cm. Length 41 cm.

Foot scraper after 1850

Newly manufactured classically stylish foot scraper in cast iron after an old model. Solid heavy quality, specially cast for Gysinge. Semi-circular shape with openwork star pattern. Untreated surface. Marking Gysinge.

It is not surface treated, but should instead be left outdoors until it has “finished rusting”. It will stop rusting after a few months. It can certainly be painted, but where the scraper becomes worn, it will still rust.

Place the scraper on a smooth surface, otherwise there is a risk of it cracking under uneven and heavy loads. Be careful with the rust water at first as it can leave stains that never go away. Therefore, never place a foot scraper on a wooden deck or directly on a stone staircase until it has finished rusting.

Untreated cast iron. Length 81 cm, height 19 mm, width 41.5 cm. Weight 13.6kg

Note! The foot scraper in the environmental image is blacker in color than an untreated one when treated with linseed oil.
