Wall socket in black bakelite of recessed, earthed model. Classic model in Sweden from the 1930s onwards. Same outer shape as our wall switches in black bakelite. Fits in both old and new recessed boxes.

Bakelite is a moulded synthetic resin characterized by excellent dimensional and temperature stability, and an enormous insulating capacity against electric current.

Bakelite began to replace porcelain electrical accessories in the early 1930s. Older bakelite is brown, brown-black or black, but from the 40s and 50s it is also available in white.

Black porcelain socket with plastic insert

Classic surface-mounted electrical outlet in black porcelain with plastic insert in a design that was common in Europe during the first half of the 20th century.

In the side of the bottom there is an opening for cable outlet for surface-mounted electrical wiring, but the outlet can also be mounted for recessed wall outlet in combination with one of Fontini’s base plates.
